KABONG: An allocation of RM250,000 allocation has been approved to repair and upgrade village roads at Kampung Hulu Laut here, this year.

Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir disclosed this yesterday, adding “work on the project is expected to be carried out soon”.

He told The New Sarawak Tribune’s sister paper, SarawakVoice (an online news portal) during a walkabout to Kampung Hulu Laut, that the upgrading project would include widening the road and repairing feeder roads connecting individual homes.

“The upgrading and repair works will start soon. Certain sections of the road are too narrow causing great inconvenience to passing motorists.

“The situation worsens during festive occasion such as Hari Raya or when there is a big event being held in the village. We therefore take this initiative to widen the roads and upgrade it to ease the congestion and enable smooth flow of traffic in the village,” he added.

Chee said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led state government would continue to upgrade village roads in the district, but in stages and based on the urgency levels.

He noted that the project was yet another proof of the GPS-led state government’s concern for the interest and wellbeing of the rakyat.

“The GPS state government will continue to implement projects that are urgently required by the people throughout the state, albeit in stages.

“All these are evidence of  the state govervnment delivering on their social responsibilities towards the rakyat,” he added.

He urged the people to continually co-operate and work hand-in-hand with the state government in ensuring the process of bringing progress and development to their respective areas would go uninterrupted.
