SRI AMAN: The Sarawak government has invested RM2mil to upgrade the drainage system in Batu Lintang town, effectively addressing the long-standing flood issues in the area.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis highlighted that the completed Projek Rakyat has brought significant benefits to the local community.

The inauguration of the upgraded drainage system took place on Wednesday (Aug 2) during a gotong-royong programme jointly organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Cina Batu Lintang, Undop, and the Sri Aman District Council (MDSA).

Harden, the Simanggang assemblyman, planted seven Green Bushida trees as a symbol of the inauguration. The selection of these trees was due to their strong roots, which help prevent soil erosion, making them ideal landscape decorators while being environmentally beneficial.

He praised the initiative taken by the JKKK, highlighting the importance of cooperative activities to maintain cleanliness in the community and promote a healthy environment. In support of the effort, he donated RM3,000 to JKKK Kampung Cina Batu Lintang.
