MIRI: The construction of Tamu Kampung Luak which cost RM600,000 is now complete.

Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting when met during a site inspection yesterday said construction work for the project began at the end of January this year and was completed on June 21.

“I am happy to see that the project went smoothly, with basic amenities provided for the vendors here,” he said.

The tamu, or open-air market, could accommodate 50 vendors.

Ting added, the project was proposed by former Sibuti MP Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang and the application was approved for construction in January.

The project was implemented under Ting’s Rural Transformation Project (RTP).

“We hope with the completion of this tamu, it would help local sellers or farmers to bring and sell their local produce,” he said.

Ting went on to inspect another one of his RTPs, which is the construction of facilities in the Kampung Luak
community Hall with a total cost of RM212,000.

“It includes the extension of the operations office of the hall, repainting the badminton court, and replacing old
windows,” he said.

The project was completed on May 3.

“I hope that the completion of these development projects could help transform the landscape of the area,” he said.

He pointed out the Sarawak government of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has been always focusing on delivering services via implementation of development projects to the people.
