SARIKEI: Out of the RM1 million allocation for repairing houses for the poor, almost RM700,000 was spent in Kuala Rajang, said its assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

“Although the provisions are in place, the approval of the matter is subject to the decision of the special committee.

“The committee is chaired by me and its members comprising the temenggung, penghulu as well as tuai rumah.

“In this regard, I would like community leaders to update their residents’ information to ensure that assistance is provided to the target groups as soon as possible,” he told reporters after visiting Bukit Kinyau here, yesterday.

Len Talif, who is also Urban Development and Resources Assistant Minister, wants all
leaders to be more proactive and to go to the ground frequently and meet the people in their respective areas.

“It is very important to present the information to the people ourselves as to avoid any distorted facts from malicious parties,” he explained.
