RM9mil for Integrated Village Economic Transformation project in Matu

MATU: The federal government has allocated RM9mil to implement the Integrated Village Economic Transformation (PROSPEK) project here.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Martin Ben said the allocation would help entrepreneurs to continue to progress.

“The goal of this project is we want to improve the quality of entrepreneurship and at the same time see their income increase,” he said as per Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

Earlier, Martin visited the PROSPEK project here, saying the project, which started in 2020, would take about five years to complete.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya also conducted a working visit to review the progress of a Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project in Matu.

He handed over completed projects such as the Lorong Dengin jetty in Kebuaw, which was upgraded at a cost of RM100,000; a bridge in the Sekaan Besar area, which was repaired at a cost of RM80,000; and a Matu District landmark, which was rebuilt at a cost of RM280,000.

“I want to congratulate the implementing agency, Department of Irrigation and Drainage Mukah and contractors for completing the projects ahead of schedule.

“And I hope the projects will benefit and provide more comfort to residents.”

Also present was Sarawak Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development permanent secretary Datuk Edwin Abit.
