The Kejapil-Beraya Bakam road that collapsed last week due to heavy rain.

MIRI: Repair work is being carried out on the collapsed section of the 80-metre-long Kejapil-Beraya Bakam road here.

The section collapsed eight days ago due to heavy rain.

Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who visited the site yesterday morning, has given his assurance that the construction work will be completed within 10 days.

A team from the Miri Public Works (JKR) is on the site carrying out the repair work.

“We apologise to the rakyat that this unfortunate event had happened during the monsoon season, we hope that this road will be ready and passable within 10 days,”Uggah told a group of local media personnel when he visited the road.

Uggah also visited a house in Kampung Terahad Bekenu after soil erosion occurred adjacent to it last week.

Uggah was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport and Entreprenuer Development Dr Ripin Lamat cum Lambir assemblyman and Deputy Minister of Women Childhood, Communitu Development I Datuk Rosey Yunus cum Bekenu assemblywoman and JKR director Richard Tajan.
