BINTULU: The public, especially drivers and road users, are advised to be more cautious and prioritise safety during the Chinese New Year celebration.

Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming urged road users to adhere to speed limits and drive safely, emphasising the importance of responsible driving to avoid endangering others.

“I call upon all road users to practice courteous driving, plan their journeys to avoid rushing, and ensure that vehicles are well-maintained before embarking on a trip,” he said after distributing road safety campaign pamphlets in conjunction with the Chinese New Year at Petronas Station, Tun Hussein Onn Road, here, yesterday.

He also advised drivers to avoid violations such as speeding, using mobile phones while driving, making dangerous overtakes, driving under the influence of alcohol and more.

Earlier, Pang, along with Bintulu District Deputy Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Fazri Yusof and Bintulu Road Transport Department (JPJ) head Fedrick Kedo, distributed pamphlets, helmets, and mandarin oranges to road users.

It was also to foster awareness among road users about the importance of prioritising safety while on the road.
