KOTA SAMARAHAN: Traffic light projects at five roundabouts along the Samarahan-Kuching Expressway will be ready by November this year.

Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos who disclosed this said the local council had met with the Public Works Department (PWD) and contractors to get an update on the project.

“This is very good news to us. The work at Tabuan Tranquility roundabout is almost finished and it is very well done.

“Work along Jalan Datuk Mohamad Musa in Samarahan will be completed by September this year, which is indeed a very happy news.  If this road is not improved or expanded, it will be a big nightmare to road users,” he said on Wednesday (March 1).

Minos pointed out that the public had always sought clarifications from the local council regarding the traffic predicaments.

As such, he said the local council must do its job of seeing and monitoring the progress of these projects.

“When any project undertaken in Samarahan by any government agencies is badly delayed or aborted, the Samarahan public would always refer to us. We are duty bound to answer failings, unfortunately we always get the brickbats.

“Hence, MPKS must do some monitoring as a fellow government agency.

“We are very pleased that the two projects are proceeding pretty well, this is thanks to the good PWD contractors and the earnest commitment they put in,” he said.
