ROBAN: Almost all villages and longhouses in the Kalaka constituency are applying to rebuild anew and also upgrade the drainage system in their respective areas.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, in this respect, said the distribution of allocations, particularly those under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), would be based on priority.

“Since the commitment is too big, there will probably be some that are prioritised earlier and others a little late.

“But all applications made by community and tribal leaders (KMKK) are always considered and never ignored,” he said following a recent visit to Rumah Panjang Sait, Jelupang Baruh.

Good drainage in villages and longhouses is crucial to prevent stagnant water and to improve crop growth.

He added that many new and better ditches have been built using RTP allocations.

Earlier, Mohamad attended a Saratok District Action Committee Meeting where he was briefed on the progress of projects being implemented by federal and state agencies.

Among them are the Pan Borneo Highway Project, the Sungai Krian Bridge and the Second Main Road from the Roban junction, Rural Electricity Supply (BELB) under the Additional or Late Applicant Fund Scheme (ALAF) and Rural Water Supply (BALB).

He hoped that all the high-impact projects could be completed on schedule.
