KOTA KINABALU: A sum of RM67.34 million was allocated for the 2024 early school aid, benefiting 448,944 students across 1,298 primary and secondary schools in Sabah.

Sabah Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister, and state Education exco, Datuk Dr Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif, revealed that the substantial allocation was channeled to the Sabah State Education Department for distribution, with each student receiving RM150.

He said a portion of the allocation is still being distributed, and the Standard One pupils will receive the aid in March.

“I am confident that this assistance can, at the very least, alleviate the financial burden on parents in purchasing their children’s initial school supplies.

“Hopefully, these children will also be able to study more effectively with the support provided,” he said after presenting the aid cheques to the representatives of 24 District Education Offices at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Malawa, Sepanggar, near here yesterday.

He expressed the hope that the assistance would not only positively impact the target group but also serve as a platform to raise awareness about the significance of education to bring about a transformation in the fortunes of their families.
