KUCHING: SAC Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali is now Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief.

He assumed the post today taking over from acting CID chief ACP Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali, who is Sarawak CID (Intelligence/Operation) deputy chief.

Salahuddin was previously deputy director Narcotic (Enforcement/General Policing) in the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID), Bukit Aman.

The handover ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess of Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK).

Aidi congratulated and welcomed Salahuddin to the state as the 27th Sarawak CID chief.

“I have full confidence that he will be able to perform his duties well through his vast experience in his career.

“Salahuddin served in Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) for nearly 25 years and has held various positions in the force.

“His experience and knowledge throughout his service will be of advantage to his new position. I hope all the department heads and police chiefs will fully cooperate with him to fight crime and further reduce the crime rate in Sarawak,” Aidi said.

Salahuddin, who hails from Kelantan, said the task (as Sarawak CID chief) is a huge responsibility for him and he will do his best for Sarawakians.

“If we look at the crime index in the state, one day on average is about 40 cases and below.

“I believe the crime rate can be reduced with the cooperation from all departments in the Sarawak contingent,” he said.

Also present was deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Fisol Salleh and Sarawak Special Branch chief SAC Mohd Hairuddin Che Hamid.
