KUCHING: The Majlis Seni Sarawak dancers captivated the audience with their mesmerising performances and enchanting music during the opening ceremony of G-Festival 2023 in Guro, South Korea.

According to Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, the dance troupe managed to portray the beauty and uniqueness of Sarawak on the international stage.

“The 10 members showcased the Sarawak traditional dances and music of Sarawak, also known as the Land of the Hornbills, during the opening ceremony of G-Festival 2023 to reciprocate the last visit and performance by Guro City at the Kuching Festival,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Wee said that this cultural exchange was a part of the Memorandum of Understanding between MBKS and Guro City, aimed at promoting tourism, culture, and youth engagement.

“Our culture and arts must be preserved for future generations to enjoy and learn,” he stressed.

Wee also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak for their unwavering support, as they provided funding through the Facilitation Fund for Heritage, Arts, and Culture for this cultural troupe.
