SIBU: The Sarawak Volleyball Association (SAVA) is setting its sights on victory as the state’s boys and girls teams gear up for the 21st Milo-Malaysia Under-16 Volleyball Championships.

The championship will take place at the Sibu Volleyball Indoor Stadium in Rejang Park from Nov 21 to 25.

SAVA president Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming expressed confidence in the home ground advantage, hoping for triumph despite facing stiff competition from teams representing 11 states, including Johor, Pahang, Selangor, Penang, Sabah, Trengganu and Negeri Sembilan.

“I believe that they will do their best to deliver, and even though there will be stiff competition from teams from other states, our home ground advantage will play a crucial role,” Lau told the media after the symbolic flag handover ceremony to the state teams at the Sibu Volleyball Indoor Stadium.

Emphasising the team’s dedication and hard work in preparation, he said, “Even if they could not win to our expectations, I am certain they will give an edge over their opponents.”

He also expressed confidence that the state teams, both boys and girls, would make Sarawak proud at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) next year.
