KUCHING: Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) will host the Sarawak FAMA Fest (SAFF) 2023 at Bintang Megamall Miri from Feb 23 to 26.

Sarawak FAMA deputy director of operations Ramli Mat Sani said about 40 entrepreneurs would be prepared to meet the needs and requirements of the domestic and international markets.

“This programme is held to advertise and promote the products of our entrepreneurs and consumers, particularly in Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and Brunei Darussalam.

“At the same time, we want to market this industry as a viable business sector in order to encourage the participation of young entrepreneurs.”

He said this at a press conference for SAFF 2023 held at the Sarawak FAMA office here on Friday (Feb 17).

Ramli explained that the sales would be divided into two primary categories of Jualan Terus Dari Ladang (JTDL) and Industri Asas Tani (IAT).

“Consumers can purchase products at a lower price than on the retail market through FAMA’s JTDL programme.”

“Among them, the sale of eggs by grade and discounts on Omega eggs throughout the day.

“We are aware that there is a current egg supply concern. As a result, we are collaborating with the 10 largest egg producers in the state to secure supplies and sell them through the programme.

“In addition to benefiting the visitors, it can also indirectly benefit business owners,” he noted.

He also disclosed that they were targeting some 20,000 visitors and a sales target of more than RM400,000 for the event.

The programme is scheduled to be launched by federal Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Chan Foong Hin.
