MIRI: A total of 18 local exhibitors taking part in the digital launch of the ‘Sarawak In London’ hi-tea event hosted by the Faculty of Business in Curtin University Malaysia Sarawak on Tuesday, aim to promote and increase Sarawak’s local product visibility in the international market.
Four exhibitors have sent their products to London to showcase, namely Three Tea (Three Layer Tea – beverages), Kun Products (processed foods), Starz Team (handmade soap) and Look at me (pearl jewellery design).
The one-day event was declared open by Minister of Transport Sarawak Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin.
Joining the event online were Miri Mayor Adam Yii and potential clients from the United Kingdom.
“Sarawak has unique products, and I’m optimistic that this event could help our local entrepreneurs in promoting their products to outsiders,” Lee said.
He lauded Curtin’s Faculty of Business for coming up with the idea which he said is in line with the Sarawak government initiative on nurturing digitalization.
Meanwhile, Yii said, the programme will help create opportunity for local entrepreneurs to go abroad online.
“The concept of Sarawak in London was inspired by our knowledge transfer programme. We do not see this as a one-time event, but rather as a beginning to unite all people with similar goals, and we will continue to look for opportunities in the international market,” he said.
He added that the programme will also be part of Curtin’s R&D commercialisation mission to help more local micro-entrepreneurs to tap a bigger market.
