MIRI: The 722 Sarawak Independence Day Blood Donation Campaign 2023 will be held on July 22 from 8.30 am to 1 pm at the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Training Institute, Jalan Bulan Sabit here.

Miri Blood Donor Recruitment Committee chairman Karambir Singh said the blood donation drive is supported by the Miri Hospital and its Blood Bank.

The event is jointly organised by the Miri MRC Blood Donor Recruitment Committee, Miri Thai Poo Community Association Youth Section, Miri Hakka Association Youth Section, Miri Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Association Youth Section, Kwong Wai Siew Association Miri Division Youth Section, Miri Ying Yong Cheng’s Clan Association Youth Section, Miri Youth Activities Centre and Kelab Sosial MIRIfm Jabatan Penyiaran Miri.

“The blood donation campaign is also supported by Pisau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and Miri Mayor Adam Yii.

“Successful donors will receive a certificate of appreciation, T-shirt and goodies bag for their contribution towards saving lives,” he said in a statement today.

Karambir thanked organisations and sponsors for supporting the blood donation campaign in conjunction with Sarawak’s 60th independence anniversary.

“Miri MRC and Miri Hospital were the first to achieve the Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donor status 33 years ago in Malaysia as defined by the World Health Organisation,” he said.

Meanwhile, a blood and organ donation campaign will be organised by three organisations, namely Kuching Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology, Syarikat Sri Minyak Tenaga Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Red Crescent Stampin Chapter on June 24.

The event will take place at CityONE in Kuching from 10 am to 3 pm with the objective of saving lives and preventing blood supply shortage at the blood bank of Sarawak General Hospital.
