Sarawak JPJ issues over 40 notices in integrated traffic operation

SERIAN: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued over 40 notices for various traffic offences to motorists as part of an integrated operation held in conjunction with ‘Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri’, here yesterday (Apr 20).

The department said the operation involved personnel from the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA), Department of Environment (DoE) and Immigration Department.

“Forty-five notices were issued to motorists for various traffic offences in the operation that ended at 12.30pm,” it said in a statement today.

Additionally, two lorries and one motorcycle were seized by JPJ for disobeying traffic laws.

The DoE issued ten notices, ten foreigners were arrested by the Immigration Department, and one motorist tested positive for methamphetamine after a drug test conducted by NADA.

The department urged all road users to abide by traffic laws to ensure safety and reduce the rate of accidents and deaths on the road throughout the festive season.
