KUCHING: Brazil is ready to enter the Sarawak market by exporting halal meat to the state and also Sabah.

The Brazilian Ambassador to Malaysia Ary Norton de Murat Quintella said Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of halal protein.

He noted that halal meat is a crucial source of protein in Malaysia.

“However, we have not yet exported to Sarawak, and Brazil is now interested in the Sarawak market, which is also what I discussed with the Premier,” he said today (July 17).

Earlier, Quintella paid a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office.

During the visit, they also discussed renewable energy and exchanged experiences in that field.

Quintella also expressed his interest in discussing renewable energy sources in the state.

“Besides that, I am very interested in the sustainable aviation fuel, which is a topic highly regarded by the Sarawak Premier,” he said.
