Rentap witnesses flag handing over ceremony.

JULAU: The Sarawak Merdeka Convoy 2023 has reached its destination in Julau, covering a distance of 146 kilometres.

According to the statement, the convoy consisted of 20 cars and 20 high-powered motorcycles, with a total of 75 participants. Another convoy from Sarikei Division joined in with 163 participants and 48 vehicles.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, expressed his hopes for strong support from the people of Sarawak throughout the ongoing Sarawak Merdeka Convoy 2023.

Rentap added, “This spirit of unity has been carried throughout Sarawak for the past 60 years, from Lawas, Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Sibu, Kapit, Sarikei, and now to Betong, Sri Aman, Serian, Kota Samarahan, and Kuching.”

Meanwhile Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin said that the convoy aims to showcase the development that Sarawak has achieved in its 60 years of independence and ignite the spirit of patriotism among its people.

Rolland said the younger generation should pay attention to this celebration.

“The progress, prosperity, and well-being enjoyed today are the outcomes of the hard work and dedication of past leaders and Sarawakians,” said Rolland.

The Sarawak Merdeka Convoy 2023 commemorates Sarawak’s independence journey, bringing together the diverse communities and celebrating the achievements that have shaped the state’s progress. It serves as a reminder of the collective efforts made to achieve development, prosperity, and the well-being of the people.
