Sarawak to host international summit on sustainability

KUCHING: Fourteen keynote speakers from the private and government sectors in the Asean region will be featured at the Shape the World Summit 2023 here on June 21.

Themed ‘Future Resilience by Sustainability’ the summit will bring together leaders, changemakers, innovators and entrepreneurs to for panel discussions and network opportunities.

The theme explores the challenges facing individuals, communities and businesses to shape sustainability in a more complex era of data and artificial intelligence (AI).

A statement from the organisers said participants can expect to gain information from experts on sustainability, data, AI on building resilient infrastructure, balancing economic progress with sustainability, taking a systemic approach to urban planning, using AI and data to create innovative cities and reducing carbon emissions.

“They will have the opportunity to discover new trends, ideas and technologies shaping the future of sustainability and resilience, and network with 300 peers, leaders and potential collaborators from around the world who share a commitment to sustainability and resilience.”

The summit will culminate in a gala dinner where summit participants will witness the announcement of the Unity Mark Award, a global media award that recognises media campaigns fostering community action or reconciliation.

The summit is organised by Consulus and supported by TSG Group, Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS), DesignFutures Venture and Nuova Global Foundation.

Since 2005, more than 7,000 leaders have participated in the summit which was first launched in Singapore. Previously it was held in the Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar.
