BETONG: Sarawak will identify the weaknesses of its Para Sukma contingent that took part in 10 sports at the Games held in Kuala Lumpur this year.

Contingent head Mohamad Razi Sitam said this would put them in good stead for the next Games in 2024, to be hosted by Johor.

A post-mortem would be carried out soon, he added and “a stronger contingent will be formed for the Johor challenge” after traditional Para Sukma powerhouses Sarawak failed to win the title in Kuala Lumpur recently.

“I believe the team coaches and officials have already prepared their reports,” said the Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development.

He also revealed that the process of searching for new talents would start early next year. “I believe there are many new talents out there who can contribute to the contingent’s success in the next Games.”

Despite failing to win the overall title, Razi was still satisfied with the contingent’s performance, finishing in second place with a total medal haul of 146 – 50 gold, 47 silver and 49 bronze.
