BAU: The state government of Sarawak has created a platform for members of the public to provide constructive criticism on the quality of services. The Unit of Integrity and Ombudsman of Sarawak (UNIONS) has been set up to investigate all complaints thoroughly, using international ombudsman practices, which prioritize freedom, exception, equality, secrecy, and informality.

Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, the Minister in the Premier’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman), stressed the importance of providing concrete evidence to support complaints. He encouraged the public to use the platform wisely and assured them that all complaints would be investigated.

In addition, UNIONS has been taking proactive measures by visiting development and farming projects. The state government has granted Sarawak the autonomy to implement RM50 million federal projects without referring to Putrajaya, and contractors are expected to improve their productivity and efficiency to meet timelines and ensure quality.

The programme is set to run from March 1 to March 3 in Lundu, Bau, and Kuching
