BINTULU: The effort to maintain the harmony of a country that has a multi-racial society is seen as not an easy matter or can be taken lightly.

Therefore, all levels of society, regardless of whether it is at the level of national, state, or even small children, need to play their respective roles in maintaining the harmony that had been achieved over the years.

“As Sarawakians, we should be proud to be a model of unity between races and religions in this country,” said Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming when speaking at the 2022 Pre-Christmas celebration at Kampung Kayan Kenyah Uma Luhat Ajang, Jalan Bintulu-Miri.

He explained that, in creating a united society, the people needed to tolerate and respect the religious beliefs and customs of others because it was the essence of working towards racial unity.

“The spirit of goodwill and a prosperous life allow the people in this country to lead a more prosperous life without any disturbance that can cause conflict or chaos,” he stressed.

As such, he said it was very important that every citizen strived to maintain understanding, well-being and harmonious relationships so that the bonds of community unity continued to be strong and peace could be enjoyed at any time.

He also reminded the people of this state, especially in Bintulu, not to be easily deceived by the propaganda of certain groups who liked to undermine the racial unity that had been practiced for a long time in Sarawak.

“Hopefully this Pre-Christmas celebration can strengthen unity and relationships between local communities regardless of race, religion and political beliefs, he added.
