KUCHING: Sarawakians are called to always be consistent in upholding the principle of racial and religious harmony that has long been instill in the hearts and minds of everyone.

Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the harmony in Sarawak was achieved as a result of the efforts of the past leaders, the elders who were always sensitive to other races and religions.

“Thus, this is what we must maintain and defend.

“It is not appropriate for us to chant and as if we want to defend racial harmony, defend what our ancestors have achieved but at the same time label a group like Hamas as terrorists, label the Palestinians who fight for their rights as terrorists, label everyone  Palestinians are terrorists.  Don’t act as if we understand and are experts in the history of the conflict in Palestine,” he said on his Facebook post on Wednesday.

Fazzrudin, who is also the chief political secretary to the Premier, said that the situation happening now is that it involves the people in the Gaza peninsula, the old people, women and children who are dying in the war.

“I will call a spade a spade. This has to stop.  If we don’t have the power to stop it, the next best thing is to ask for help – all kinds of help that we can afford.

“InshaAllah, God will reward every good we do with more goodness for ourselves, our families, Sarawak and Malaysia.

“We are one big Sarawak family consisting of multiple races and religions – Islam, Catholic, Protestant, SIB, Buddhist, Hindu and many more.  Let us together maintain this harmony,” he stressed.
