BINTULU: Sarawakians have been urged to continue the practice of visiting relatives and friends’ open houses during festivities.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the visiting culture during celebrations fosters unity among the state’s diverse communities.

“The multicultural and multi-religious population in Sarawak is fortunate to celebrate festivities regardless of ethnicity.

“Thus, visiting the houses of relatives and friends during the festive season not only provides an opportunity to learn about other cultures but also fosters unity among the diverse community,” he said.

Tiong, who is also the Bintulu MP, said this during a Hari Raya open house at Kampung Assyakirin III and Kampung Jabai here recently.

“As a representative of the people, visiting communities at the grassroots level during festive seasons is the best opportunity to interact with the people on the ground.

“This is also to understand their needs and ensure they are adequately assisted,” said Tiong.
