KUCHING: Sarawakians have shown close and harmonious cooperation, which can be likened to the concept of ‘dakwah’.

Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) president Datuk Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus highlighted that our multi-racial and multi-religious society in Sarawak can serve as an exemplary model for the people in Peninsular Malaysia.

“Dakwah (teaching of Islam) doesn’t mean persuading others to change their religion; rather, it promotes living in harmony, love, and respecting one another,” Hasanuddin said.

He said this during a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Baitulmakmur I Building today (July 28).

He further explained that the purpose of this visit was to explore activities that would be implemented in the state, taking into account local issues and guidance from the Premier of Sarawak.

Moreover, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed Harakah Islamiah (HIKMAH) executive officer Alwi Morshidi as a member of the Board of Trustees of YADIM to gain a better understanding of the situation in Sarawak.
