KAPIT: The annual jogathon of SK Methodist Kapit targets to raise funds for the school’s co-curricular activities.

The school’s headmaster Demang Sawing said the event was targetted to raise RM15,000.

“We hope to enhance cooperation and teamwork among the school stakeholders, namely, the pupils, teachers, parents, and the Parent-Teacher Association. We hope to inculcate teamwork in the children’s education. We need everybody to participate in the school’s activities,” he said at the closing ceremony of the jogathon, on Saturday.

He said the jogathon was also in line with the Education Department’s ‘one pupil one sport’ policy.

He also thanked all those involved in making the jogathon a success.

Officiating at the event, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Nicholas Kudi Jantai commended the concerted efforts of parents, pupils, teachers and the school’s PTA for the teamwork in organising the jogathon.

“I am pleased that the school’s PTA worked very closely with the school. This spirit of cooperation and teamwork must be further strengthened as a way to improve the children’s standard of education,” he said.

He reminded parents of their important role in the education of their children.
“In school, teachers look after their pupils, so at home, parents must take the responsibility to guide their children in school works,” he added.

At the function, Kudi announced a Minor Rural Project grant of RM3,000 from Pelagus State Assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang.

Later, he presented prizes to the jogathon winners.

Also present were the school’s PTA chairman Dominic Chunggat, PTA members Francis Dana and Linggi Maseng, teachers and parents.
