MIRI: A fire broke out at one of the transformers in the Pujut power station at 6am on Saturday morning (June 3), sparking concerns about potential power supply disruptions and safety risks in the surrounding areas.

But such concerns were quickly allayed by Sarawak Energy which assured the public that the situation is under control and that there has been no interruptions in power supply.

Also, no injuries or property damage were reported, except for partial damage to the affected transformer.

However, the cause of the fire has not been established yet as investigations are underway.

In its statement SEB said it will conduct a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

It said the fire incident is being treated as an isolated event and that the rest of its electrical infrastructure remains secure and reliable, ensuring the continued stability of the power grid.

It also expressed gratitude to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) for their prompt response in extinguishing the fire.
