Sebangkoi Cluster ends

KUCHING: Sebangkoi Cluster in Sri Aman has officially ended on Sunday (March 21) after no new Covid-19 cases were reported within the last 28 days.

The last case was reported on Feb 21.

“A total of 34 people were reported to be positive for the virus in relation to this cluster including the index case,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily Covid-19 statement.

The Sebangkoi Cluster is a community cluster that started from a family, which then spread to the community involving close contacts and social contacts of the index case in Sebangkoi area, Undop in Sri Aman district.

The index case for the cluster was a 59-year-old local woman who was screened after showing symptoms on Jan 29 and was referred to Sri Aman Hospital from a health clinic in Batu Lintang, Sri Aman.

With one cluster down, Sarawak still have 34 active clusters at present.

“Of the total, 12 clusters recorded a cumulative 48 new cases on Sunday (March 21),” SDMC added.
