Sebuyau fire victims receive assistance

SEBUYAU: The state and federal governments have channelled assistance to the families of the fire victims in Sebuyau town which happened on August 6.

Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in its news report said the handover of the assistance channelled through the Sarawak Social Welfare Department was presented by Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi, who is also Sebuyau assemblyman, at the Sebuyau Development Hall recently.

The assistance totalling RM2,700 under the Emergency Relief Fund were disbursed to nine fire victims with each person receiving RM300 in cash.

Besides that, eight fire victims also received their recovery assistance for their small business worth RM6,000 per person while another one, Tian Boon Hiang, received construction material assistance amounting to RM2,150.

Meanwhile, community leaders of the Sebuyau Iban area represented by Penghulu Agu Keleng also rendered assistance to Penghulu Lau Khien Seng on behalf of the victims.
