Second day of 19th DUN sitting

THE SECOND day of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) commenced today with elected representatives from across the state converging at the DUN Complex here.

The sitting began with a prayer at 9.15am in the DUN chambers.

DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said that leave of absence was granted to Bukit Kota assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail for today (May 18) and tomorrow (May 19). 

Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben was also granted leave of absence from the first day of the sitting until May 22. 

The sitting was then followed by the question-and-answer (Q&A) session by the members of the august House to the respective ministries. 

This sitting will also see the tabling of three government Bills, namely, Supplementary Supply (2022) Bill, 2022; Land Code (Amendment) Bill, 2022; and Forest (Amendment) Bill, 2022. 

The Land Code (Amendment) Bill will be tabled by the Deputy Minister in The Chief Minister’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali today.

An election for Senator will also be held as the second term for Senator Dr Zaiedi Suhaili will expire on July 18.
