KUALA LUMPUR: The phenomenon of spontaneous creation of terms is becoming increasingly pervasive in today’s society. This will be among the issues that will be given serious attention in the national level Terminology Seminar 2019, organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP).

In a statement yesterday, DBP said the two-day seminar, which will start on Oct 2, would discuss in particular issues related to the field of linguistic terminology and lexicology.

According to the statement, the last time the DBP organised seminars and conferences related to language issues at the international level was in 2005, and over the past 14 years, language issues have become more and more widely spoken among the Malay language community and scholars.

“The objective of the seminar was to discuss the theoretical and practical knowledge of the latest terminology, explore knowledge of terminology in the present and future, collect research findings related to terminology and bring together language scholars and the people,” the statement said.
