Serian hosts Agong’s birthday

SERIAN: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday attended the state-level celebration of the birthday of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The celebration was held inside the multipurpose hall of SJK(C) Chung Hua Serian where nearly 500 people, from state ministers, assistant ministers and other leaders, gathered.

The event started with the cutting of the birthday cake by Abdul Taib and ministers followed by the presentation of welfare aid to 100 people from Serian area.

Abdul Taib and Abang Johari spent nearly two hours at the event where guests were also served with food, entertained with a stage show and cultural performances.

Also in attendance were deputy chief ministers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin; Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Rural Electricity Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; and former deputy chief minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang.
