BAU: Police picked up seven men for illegal gambling during a raid on a premises at Kampung Stenggang here, on Sunday (June 7).
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the raid around 9pm was conducted by a team from the Bau Police Criminal Investigation Division.
“We arrested seven locals aged 32 to 56 years and brought the suspects to Bau police station for further action. They were playing ‘holo’ (a dice-based gambling game),” he said in a statement.
Various gambling paraphernalia, cash and furniture were seized.
Poge said the case will be investigated under Section 7 (2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) (No.6) Regulations 2020.
