The acting Kuching district police chief Supt Merbin Lisa, stated that the event would start at 4.30pm and be expected to end around 11pm at the Hiang Thian Siang Ti Temple, Jalan Carpenter.

“The parade will begin at the temple on Jalan Carpenter and travel down to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Padungan, Jalan Tabuan, Jalan Ban Hock and Sri Aman roundabout.

“Before it concludes at Jalan Carpenter, it will also travel via Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Gambir, Lebuh Market, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Barrack, Jalan Pearl and Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg,” he said.

On Dec 26 starting at 2pm, some of the roads, including Jalan Gambir towards Jalan Main Bazaar and Jalan Main Bazaar towards Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, will be closed for the procession.

On that day, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg towards Padang Merdeka and Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang towards Jalan Market will also be temporarily closed.

In order to avoid congestion on Jalan Main Bazaar, Merbin advised those travelling on Jalan Wayang from Jalan Ban Hock to switch to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman or take Jalan Wawasan.

Vehicles from Jalan Haji Taha are advised to make a U-turn at a roundabout close to a mosque to avoid congestion at Jalan Gambir.

“We recommended road users to take notice of this and exercise caution to avoid traffic congestion on the road,” said Merbin.
