MIRI: A 67-year-old man was killed when his Sedan crashed into a tree near a food court at Pujut 7 here this morning.

According to the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre (PGO), the deceased was extricated from a Proton Saga BLM by firemen from Lopeng Fire station.

The station is located about 10km away from the crash scene.

Chew Tze Lim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from Miri Hospital.

A distress call on the incident was received at 12.09 am, and eight firemen, four Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) officers and one fire engine were dispatched to the scene.

The operation ended at 12.50 am.
