SGH Open Day to promote healthcare services, medical professions

KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here will be organising an Open Day programme on Saturday (Nov 4) from 7.30am to 1.30pm.

More than 45 counters will be open to the public, allowing the community to familiarise themselves with various healthcare services provided at SGH. 

“Activities during the Open Day include dental services, general and women’s health check-ups, visits to specialist clinics, health exhibitions, School Within Hospital services, health quizzes, food stalls, and more,” SGH said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 31).

“The objectives include raising awareness among the younger generation about good health and community wellbeing, as well as promoting an interest in the medical field among young people.”

It is estimated that more than 600 school students will participate in this programme, including schools in and around Kuching, along with teachers, association representatives, non-governmental organisations, the public, and government agencies.

A career dialogue session related to medical professions and healthcare services, involving a panel of experts and medical officers, will be held at the CRC Auditorium, SGH, moderated by Dr Wong Kee Ging, SGH deputy director (Medical III).

The opening ceremony will be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who also serves as the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

Residents in and around Kuching and nearby areas are encouraged to take this opportunity to receive free health check-ups and learn more about medical professions and the healthcare facilities provided.
