SIBU: Amcorp Sibu Jaya Sdn Bhd has been singled out for praise for their efforts to bring together the community in Sibu Jaya for an iftar ceremony.

The programme, which took place at the Al-Madinah Al-Husna mosque, was attended by over 1,000 residents with various backgrounds and races in the area.

“I hope there will be more events like this in the future. Especially amidst the racial issue with the KK Mart incident. I think events like this are a good move to foster racial harmony, especially in Sibu,” political secretary to the Premier Joshua Ting Fu Ying said when met by reporters at the event last night (Ap 4).

Ting noted that the community in Sibu Jaya is known for its harmony — with every festival or event organised celebrated together.

“Sibu Jaya has good community ties. When I was a councillor in Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), every event was attended by people from different races and backgrounds. This shows that the unity here is exceptional,” he said.
