Six caught for brawl over woman

MIRI: Six men were arrested for allegedly being involved in a fight over a woman at Jalan Kwang Tung on Thursday.

District police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari who confirmed the case, said the incident happened around 5pm in front of Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Miri.

Upon receiving information, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team conducted ‘Ops Cantas’ and arrested the suspects aged between 15 and 24 at the scene.

“Aside from arresting the suspects, the police also seized an iron rod and two motorcycle helmets believed to be used in the fight,” he said.

Investigations found that the incident stemmed from a fight over a woman and dissatisfaction among one another.

Hakemal noted that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.

All six suspects involved in the fight over a woman at Jalan Kwang Tung, were brought to the police station by Miri CID on Thursday.
