KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) has announced that polling for the state elections in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan will be held simultaneously on Aug 12.
EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said nomination in all six states affected by the election is on July 29, while early voting is on Aug 8.
He said this at a press conference after chairing a special meeting to discuss the important dates for the state elections at Menara SPR Putrajaya here.
The meeting was held following the receipt of notices of the official dissolution of the Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan state assemblies from their respective State Assembly speakers.
Kelantan was the first to dissolve its StateAssembly, which was on June 22, followed by Selangor on June 23, while Penang, Kedah and Terengganu on June 28 and Negeri Sembilan on July 1. – Bernama
