Six teams clinch gold award in Beijing

KUCHING: Six teams from Sarawak clinched the Gold Award at the 48th International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC), held from Oct 30 to Nov 1 at the Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention Centre.

Sarawak Innovation and Transformation Unity said that the six teams are namely D’Isthmus, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC); Sharks, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC); The Search, Department of Agriculture Sarawak; Borneensis 2, Forest Department Sarawak; VTech 12, Land and Survey Department Sarawak, Serian Division and Sassoku Tech, Land and Survey Department Sarawak, Kuching Division.

“A total of 62 ICC teams from 41 organisations from Malaysia participated in this 48th International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC) annual international quality platform

“A group of 45 attended physically on site and 17 groups participated virtually, involving 272 representatives from Malaysia,” it said in a press release issued yesterday (Nov 9).

The Sarawak contingent was led by Deputy State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee, and director of Sarawak Transformation & Innovation Unit, Department of the Premier of Sarawak as the Head of Secretariat for the Sarawak contingent, Superi Awang Said.

The ICQCC has been held 47 times since its inaugural event in 1976, also renowned as the “Quality Olympics” as it covers a huge number of participants in diversified industries.

This year, the 48th ICQCC is hosted by the China Association for Quality (CAQ) with the theme “Innovation and Vitality, lighting up the beauty of Quality”.

There were over 3,000 participants from 15 countries participating in this ICQCC in both physical and online platforms.
