THE state government has agreed to relocate SK Sebemban Spaoh 1.5km from its original location.

The school is currently situated near the riverbank and is at risk of flooding and soil erosion.

Assistant Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said tender for the project was closed and it would begin soon.

“This project will include six classrooms, six units of teachers quarters as well as pre-school building to accommodate the population around Sebemban area.”

He was responding to Mohammad Razi Sitam (PBB-Saribas) during question time at the DUN sitting on Monday (Nov 9).

“One school in the Saribas constituency — SK Tanjung Assam, has been identified for repairs under the RM1 billion contra loan.”

RM35.12 million had been used to repair schools in the Saribas constituency, including 13 schools using various forms of funding in the Malaysia Plan, the contra loan and from the Sarawak government’s rural transformation initiative, he added.
