SIBU: Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong has announced a partnership between the Human Resource Development (HRD) Corp and University Technology Sarawak (UTS) aimed at enhancing technical and entrepreneurial skills for underserved communities.

The initiative is designed to offer training in practical wiring, installation, smart home technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, and entrepreneurship skills such as business planning, financial literacy, and marketing.

“This collaboration not only aims to provide the community with relevant skills but also to generate a pool of technical experts for the energy sector, especially in smart and energy-efficient housing,” said Sim.

He further mentioned the ministry’s plans to expand training to include AI and innovative renewable energy solutions.

Meanwhile, HRD Corp’s CEO, Datuk Wira Shahul Dawoo, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to making learning accessible to all Malaysians, especially those in need.

The classes will begin from February 17 to March 2.

The formalisation of this partnership took place through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange between Shahul and UTS Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr. Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, witnessed by Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.
