Slight rise in Covid-19 numbers

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 367 new Covid-19 cases during Epid (epidemiological) Week 28 – a slight increase from Epid Week 27’s 326 cases.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) weekly report released on Monday (July 18), Kuching remained the state’s most affected district during Epid Weeks 28 and 27, with 130 and 137 cases respectively.

In Epid Week 28, Miri (67 cases), Sibu (72) and Bintulu (29) were among the districts that saw double-digit cases.

The remaining districts with zero positive cases in Epid Week 28 were Limbang, Lundu, Asajaya, Tebedu, Tatau, Beluru, Pakan, Daro, Song, Pusa, Tanjung Manis, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong and Telang Usan.

This takes the cumulative cases to 308,699 in Epid Week 28 from 308,332 in Epid Week 27.

Meanwhile, there was one death case reported each from Kuching and Miri in Week 28 while the week prior recorded three death cases – two from Sibu and one from Miri.
