APM Miri men work to catch the one-metre-long King Cobra with a snake tong.

MIRI: A man who was working in a farm at Taman Da Shing 5, Jalan Taman Tungku, here had a slithering visit from a one-metre-long King Cobra yesterday morning.

Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri officer Captain (PA) Usman Harto in a statement, said they received a distress call at 7.48am and deployed a team to the scene.

Upon arriving, the team met with the complainant who informed that the reptile’s presence was noticed by his younger brother.

At that time, the brother was working in the farm and later noticed a cobra slithering towards him and went directly into a food cover basket used to scoop dry leaves.

From there, the team located and observed the food cover basket and found the reptile was indeed hiding inside.

The cobra which is about the size of a child’s arm, was successfully caught using a snake tong and put into a bag.

It was taken to the APM Miri operations centre before it was released into its original habitat.
