SIBU: The grey, overcast sky here today did not hamper the disposal and destruction of the last state election ballot papers for the Bukit Assek constituency.
A Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) lorry transported the ballot papers, which were stored in a safe, to the SMC depot at Brooke Drive escorted by a police patrol vehicle unit.
Around 9.00 am the disposal process started with Bukit Assek constituency state election ballot papers followed by that of Dudong constituency at 9.30 am.
The disposal process was carried out smoothly as the personnel involved in the exercise did their jobs accordingly.
An excavator dug a hole for the ballots and then buried the papers with soil.
Meanwhile, the ballot papers for Nangka and Bawang Assan constituencies will be disposed through the same process in the afternoon.
Also present to witness the disposal was the Election Management Officer for Dudong constituency Abdul Razak Awang Bini, representatives from SMC and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
