SIBU: The council is committed to a more proactive approach to interacting with the community.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Deputy Chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley said the effort is to ensure that the council can successfully carry out its role in taking care of the area under its jurisdiction, which includes infrastructure development, issuing business licenses, monitoring public safety, managing hygiene and public health, housing, tourism, and other activities for the well-being of the local community.

He said this while speaking at an Aidilfitri gathering organized by the SMC at the Sibu Islamic Complex Hall today.

He stressed that various programs, such as the Aidilfitri gathering, can help to gather and strengthen unity and solidarity among the people.

“We also have the opportunity to get to know each other to strengthen trust and good relations between the council and the community here,” he added.

Also present were SMC Chairman Clarence Ting, council members, government agencies, community leaders, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and others.
