“On June 5, we were shocked by an accident involving the loss of lives and three of the victims were residents of Dalat.

“So, our side has made a little bit of background check and the next of kin are eligible to receive benefits from SOCSO based on eligibility and age criteria,” he said during the handing over of cheques and vouchers for Faedah Pengurusan Mayat (FPM) or funeral benefits to the next of kin, at the SOCSO office, here, recently

The cheques and vouchers were handed over to the beneficiaries of the victims, the late Marcos Marican and Marican Lingkan, and received by the victim’s mother and wife, Melati.

For the late Nizam Kilat, the cheque was received by his father, Kilat Balong.

According to Mohamed Yazid, the late Marcos Marican and Nizam Kilat were eligible to receive FPM amounting to RM2,000 and Penakat Pension Benefits from contributions under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 Act 4.

“All these claims have been processed for the first payment in the form of subsequent pension payments.

“Meanwhile, for the review on the late Marican @ Lingkan Legi, it was found that the SOCSO benefit process was not eligible to be processed because he did not meet the age criteria,” he explained.

In that regard, he said that the SOCSO Prihatin Squad (SPP) of the SOCSO Mukah Satellite Office, would like to remind all members of the community about the importance of SOCSO contributions.

“It doesn’t matter if you are an employee under Act 4, Self-Employed Social Security Act 2017 (OBS) Act 789 and Housewives’ Social Security Act 2022 Act 838, it is for the benefit of the insured to protect themselves and their loved ones,” he added.
