KUCHING: Felicia Elma Samban Senelus of Bintulu won the Sarawak Motif Design Challenge (SMDC) and with it a cash prize of RM3,000.

Baram’s Deccorin Dennis was runner-up while third place went to Erika Norain Salleh from Sibu, both of whom received RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.

Felicia said did not expect to win the challenge as it was the first such outing for her.

Inspired by her brother’s ability to draw, Felicia grew interested in art, and is currently studying software engineering at ICATS University College here.

“Currently I’m in my fourth semester and will complete my studies next year.

“I am interested in drawing, I draw to express my feelings, I thought to myself why not try something new which is drawing motif designs,” she said.

Felicia was among ten from all over Sarawak, including Bintulu, Sibu and Dalat who made it into the finals.
