PADAWAN: A soldier lost his life today (Apr 10) after sustaining severe injuries in a motorcycle accident along Jalan Batu Kitang on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The accident happened around 12.05am near the Batu Kitang-Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong traffic light intersection.
Acting Padawan police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said that the 24-year-old victim was travelling from Bau to Kuching prior to the crash.
“Investigations found that the victim lost control of his motorcycle and collided into a street lamp post.
“The impact caused him to be thrown onto the roadway, where he sustained severe head injuries.
“Paramedics from Sentosa Hospital confirmed that the victim died at the scene and his body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem procedures,” he said.
Lim said that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Individuals who may have witnessed the accident are urged to step forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
